Walk Among The Trees utilizes a simple partnership business model. Mario Gionet is currently a student in Algoma University’s Anishinaabemowin program. He’s a graduate of Sault College’s Adventure Recreation and Parks Technician program, with a post-diploma certificate in Business. Mario is also a member of Ginoogaming First Nation, and is learning the Anishinaabemowin language. He’s developed key relationships in the outdoors community in Sault Ste. Marie, serving as the on-site manager of Kinsmen Park in the Hiawatha Highlands and working as a sales associate at Great Lakes Outfitters. Mario’s partner, Cheyene Nanie, is a member of the Rainy River First Nation. Cheyene provides complementary skills and experience with a background as a child and youth worker and experience working at the Hiawatha Highlands. Cheyene is passionate about the outdoors and sharing the traditional knowledge and connection to the natural world that’s shaped her values.
